M Prajapati (Born 1962) was born in Vadodara. She’s a graduate of the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmadabad from where she obtained a degree in Textiles. She’s greatly inspired by the people of Kutch and by folk art. The people of Kutch inspired her with their vivid hues of textiles and with their ethnic style. She took to painting and created her own imagery and style of folk people, ethnicity and intricate adornments and design in costumes in her paintings. She also studied Textile Design at the Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai’ The Kutch people with their strong cultural roots and ethnic lifestyle have had a deep impact on her. Their vibrant lifestyle and the people themselves; the contrasts of the arid dry landscape with the brilliant hues of the textiles inspired the artist to explore a wider canvas for her expressions. Prajapati’s desire to translate her experience drew her towards painting.

She’s had numerous exhibitions in various locations including Gallerie Lavelle, Bangalore, India, Sanduka, Bangalore, ‘Objects of Desire', Bangalore, Jamaat Art Gallery, Mumbai, 'ART FOCUS' Singapore, 'GALERIE DAUPHIN' Singapore, CYMROZA Art Gallery, Mumbai, C.P.ART CENTRE & CYMROZA ART GALLERY in Chennai, RADISSON ART GALLERY, New Delhi, and at RAVISHANKAR RAVAL KALA RHAVAN, Ahmedabad, just to name a few areas. Prajapati’s canvases pride in stark expanses of space and bright colors. The open skies and the sparse landscape find a perfect balance in the canvases Pajapati's compositions. Currently, she works and lives in Ahmedabad. Her training as a textile designer helps her in enhancing the detailing of her canvases.
