Peter Kuttner holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. He was born near Boston and began his early career as an Art Director and writer for New Life Films, a motion picture company, and later he headed the graphics department at the National Museum of American Illustration. Kuttner now enjoys personal freedom of expression by using provocative color through which he expresses his love of texture. He keeps his work clean, and his style is to match each piece with a controlled organic quality. He draws his delicate palette of cool greens and blues, and gold and warm reds, from the formative years spent around the beaches of New England. He approaches each canvas with a keen technical insight while at the same time embracing the naturalness that helps him to develop great works of art.
Once he completes a piece, he hand-finishes it to deliver that very particular level of complexity that he’s known for. The artist seems to carry a sense of composition and an effortless sophistication, marrying a mastery of intricacy with minimalism. Projecting mastery of technique with strength of space that’s confidently defined, his organic patterning is both modern and evocative. He exploits each of his painted planes to the fullest breadth of its abilities dimensionally. In his art, colors, finishes and layer upon layer of textures, come together creating a unique 3D vision on a 2D plane. His florals and still lifes speak to the organic breathing spaces that push against environments that are man-made.
