Wendy Russell was born in Toronto, Ontario where she was also educated. She love to sketch and paint from an early age. She spent 7 years with her Air Force husband in Alberta after which she moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia with her three children. The prolific community and the beautiful scenery of Nova Scotia brought her passion for art to the surface. Wendy lived in Nova Scotia for 12 years then relocated to Barrie, and then finally to Kanata, Ontario in the summer of 2010. Wendy is primarily a self-taught artist. She works in acrylics and enjoys the process of drawing and spending time developing the composition of each work. She has been influenced by the works of Georgia O'Keeffe, American artist, most notably for her paintings of large, oversized flowers, as well as Lawren S. Harris, Canadian artist, for his vigorous and bold depiction of the Canadian landscape.

Wendy paints the landscapes, natural world, stylized florals and seascapes that are presented in a unique fashion and are saturated with color. Wendy taught Introduction into Drawing at Terry Fox Elementary in Barrie, Ontario, and volunteered as the Art Display Coordinator at the Cole Harbor Library, N.S. Her works are in private and corporate collections across the United States and Canada. She has exhibited at Rental and at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Art Sales. Wendy was a member of the Halifax Contemporary Art Society, the Dartmouth Visual Arts Society and the Barrie Art Club. Currently she is a member of the Ottawa West Art Association.
