Elizabeth Hellman (Born 1972) was born in Brighton, Sussex but moved to Somerset. She’s inspired by the natural world, particularly the flowers. Elizabeth tries to capture the beauty she sees around her and convey it to others. Her works are published by Oberon Arts fine art and King and McGaw publishers, and also by Medici Card Company. She was educated at the London Guildhall University and Brighton University. More recently she studied for a diploma in botanical painting with the Society of Botanical Artists in which she obtained a Distinction. Elizabeth exhibits regularly in London especially with the Society of Botanical Artists. She has had works that are part of the Brighton Festival in the Open House exhibitions.

She has also exhibited with the Hawth Theatre and Arts Centre in Crawley, the Attic Club in Ditchling, with and the Millennium Centre in Cardiff the Attic Club in Ditchling. She paints in watercolors and oils. Her watercolor paintings are detailed and delicate, and usually take her many days to complete. Elizabeth uses layers of colors, coupled with both dry and wet techniques. For the oil paintings, she paints in monochrome, after which she thin layers of color to create rich and vivid colors, a velvety texture, and depth. She builds up each of her painting slowly over a number of weeks or even several months. This is because she wants to capture all the tiny details of her subjects. When not painting, the artist enjoys spending time in her garden or walking in the countryside.
