Amy Ruppel was born and brought up in Plymouth, Wisconsin. she grew up on lots of acreage, surrounded by animals (some rabbits, 4 dogs, 2 horses, 22 cats, birds), grass, trees,... and the occasional excitement of thunderstorms and tornadoes. She was fascinated by science from a young age because of the Mammoth Ice Age Center close by. She realized she liked to draw as well, dragging her paper and pencils into the woods with her. Today she proudly calls the green and beautiful Portland, Oregon, her home. Here she now drags her pencils and paper to and from her studio and home. But she draws most everything on the computer these days. She’s a full-time illustrator and artist. At a young age she dug up fossils, drew animals and plants, and went for never-ending forest walks among all her friends in the forest. Amy’s love for science and nature is what led her to an illustration and art career.

Currently she bounces between paint and pixels so easily, and has since worked with Converse, Target, Burton Snowboards, Whole Foods, and many other companies. She’s had shows of her artwork across the United States of America and beyond. She creates art for a long list of leading shops and galleries all over the United States of America and abroad. She generally reserves her more personal work for art shows, and tries to make her commercial work something that will be accepted and enjoyed by the masses. Amy enjoys switching between mediums like paper, wax, vector graphics and paint, depending on the project.
