Nathanial Buck was born and raised in England. He was so much interested in the historical aspects of art and decided to create a visual record of ancient monuments of Wales and England. Together with his brother, they came up with a collection that came to be known as “Bucks Views.” This collection grew very fast and became a bank of more than four hundred engravings of local buildings across the two countries - Wales and England. They were collected into volumes for book purchasers and were also printed and sold individually. The prints may not have had high artistic quality, but they are important sources for local historians. This selection covers countries such as Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, just to name a few.

Some of these engravings have long explanatory captions to help to illuminate the scenes. Buck and his brother never had economic interests, though some of their prints provide glimpses of more than ancient monuments. Buck used art is a means through which he communicated to her viewers his feelings about his subjects. That’s why he strove to keep everything simple as he believed that making the work complex could have interfered with the intended message. Buck produced his art on high quality materials which means they could be used for decorative purposes for a very long time. His Collection art can be found in many galleries and institutions around the world. Some collectors have placed a high price tag on them due to their high demand.
