Eric Read Wall Art

Eric Read hails from a sleepy town on the Chesapeake. He studied classical painting at Washington DC's Corcoran School of Art and received a degree in design from the California College of Arts and Crafts. Read co-founded the international design firm "be.", creating identity and packaging for clients such as Hewlett-Packard and Sara Lee among others. He resides in sunny San Rafael California with his wife, Deborah, and their black cat, Ashby. "My heart series is a personal interpretation of a singular theme. I use the heart as a symbolic metaphor for the gothic darkness and life's internal passionate fire. Free form and organic, my technique includes the use of found objects as tools to apply texture, color and gold leaf with reckless speed and freedom of abstract expressionism. I am deeply influenced by modern masters such as Picasso, Ernst and Bacon. These images were created with a release of emotion expressing the dark yet celebrated aspects of relationships and love." -- Eric Read
