Jan Sacca (Born in 1956) is a New England-based artist who was born in Massachusetts. She was fascinated with texture and color from her youth, and started painting and drawing at the age of 6. Jan was the youngest of 6 children born in a family that’s rich in artistic talent. However, she’s the first in the family to professionally pursue a career in art. She spent a great deal of her youth on Cape Ann. She also visited the coast of Maine and New Hampshire. Jan studied at Massachusetts College of Art, where she majored in Illustration and Fine Art, but she considers herself to be self-taught. Her artwork is always created in mixed media, but she’s a versatile artist who has dabbled in a myriad of different formats. With a great appreciation and love for nature, she says that the greatest flattering remark she has ever received from a viewer was that “she taught them to see the world with new eyes.”
Jan is an internationally acclaimed artist. She grew up in Massachusetts, a place that had plenty of subject matter. It’s here that her love affair with art began. She drew inspiration from the captivating landscape of in Massachusetts and from her own backyard, and she began to create art that’s quite dramatic. She’s now based in New England, and, since moving there, she’s continued to create paintings that capture the unique characteristics of her subjects which are mainly flowers. Her works are housed in leading permanent collections in New England and beyond.
