Edward Hopper Seven A.M.

Collection of Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. The Rural counterpart to "Early Sunday Morning", this work portrays Hopper's intrest in small businesses. The varied objects in the shop window might suggest a curio shop, but the true nature of its business is quite elusive. Hopper places the scene in the early morning hours when the streets are still deserted. The homey, familiar atmoshere of the shop stands in contrast to the dark overgrown woods behind it.
