This impressionistic print by the famous French painter Edgar Degas is of a young girl taking a bath. Her hair is brown and tied up above the nape of her neck so as not to get wet. She has her left foot raised above the water and is washing the lower calf with a sponge. A chair sits to the left of the tub with a white towel draped over the seat. The wall to the right is partially covered with a teal and cream floral patterned wall paper. Light filters through the voile curtains just visible in the top left corner of the print. Degas created this painting using a technique known as Pastel which employs stick like pencils rather than brushes. The earth tone colors are subdued and there are broad pencil strokes. Framed in brown or finished as a museum wrapped canvas with nutmeg painted sides, this print will add a touch of class to a bathroom with a wide wall.
