The photographic career of husband and wife team Dick and Diane Stefanich began in the 1970’s. A love of nature led them to their most popular subject matter: flowers. By using a large format camera, they endeavored to capture the rich detail and vibrant colors inherent in their floral images. More recently, the pure form of black and white photography has presented new, creative challenges. Although taste in design changes from year to year, whether nostalgia or dramatic florals, they strive to bring a fresh viewpoint to all their work. In 1954, Dick fulfilled a childhood ambition by graduating from a photo school in Seattle, Washington. Since then, he has been engaged in full-time commercial photography. Diane’s interest in photography began in the early 70’s when she received a 35mm Pentax as a gift. Winning a number of photo competitions and having several pictorial stories published by a Seattle area newspaper further spurred her ambitions. Dick and Diane were married in 1971 and, after living in a cottage on Puget Sound for a few years, moved to a small farm in Issaquah, 15 miles east of Seattle. They raise sheep to produce spinning fleeces, while pursuing their photography interests.
