Artist Diane Hoeptner is amazed by the variety of outcomes that she achieves within still life painting. Her choice subject matter is mainly flowers. She says that flowers have a wraithlike beauty that both revitalize and reassure her spirit. Flowers reflect the beauty that nature provides. Diane was born and raised up in rural Ohio, but she currently resides in Ohio with her husband and her cat named Coco. According to Diane there's so much beauty in the world. She feels this beauty when she paints cats and floral still life; “There is comfort associated with both” she says. She discovered this beauty when she started painting her own cats that embody snark and sweetness perfectly. Visual components like the passage of dark to light or opposites on the color wheel are springboards for her compositions. Diane is influenced by her own inner drive which requires constant feeding.

Portraying her subjects in a way that does not reduce them to sentiment is important to her. In the 80's Diane moved to Los Angeles where she stayed for seventeen years. While there, she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts at CAL State Northridge and later worked as an animator for film and video games, something that she really enjoyed. . Her florals have been distributed as cards and posters by Current INC, American Greetings and Wild Apple Graphics, and her cat paintings have been featured in The Artist’s Magazine and the Modern Cat Magazine. Diane says that as long as cats frolic and flowers spring from the earth, she indulges.
