Andy Warhol was shot on June 3, 1968, by feminist writer Valerie Solanas. The wound did not kill Warhol, however, it did force him to wear a corset for the rest of his life and caused him much pain. Valerie Solanas had not only shot Andy Warhol that day, but also art critic Mario Amaya as well. The tragic shooting was never heavily publicized due to the media circus surrounding Robert F Kennedy's assassination days later.
